2026 Code of Conduct

Junior Tour Scotland – Player Code of Conduct

Junior Tour Scotland is dedicated to creating an environment that nurtures the enjoyment and enthusiasm of every member within our organisation. We want to empower our juniors to base their conduct on a sense of personal integrity and acceptance of rules, fairness, equality, respect for others, moral conduct and a sense of what is right.

1. RESPECT FOR THE GAME:

Play by the R&A rules, maintain the golf course by replacing divots, repairing pitch marks, and raking bunkers; basically, leaving the golf course the way you find it.

2. RESPECT FOR OTHERS:

Showing courtesy to all other players, officials, club staff and members; ALWAYS refraining from shouting, displaying aggressive behaviour, or using any form of abusive language.

3. AVOIDING SLOW PLAY:

By keeping up with the group in front and applying principles like "Ready Golf".

4. EQUIPMENT & TECHNOLOGY:

DO NOT throw, and/or bang golf clubs against your equipment, or cause any damage to the golf course. Keeping mobile phones on silent and following club rules regarding the use of trolleys and any local rules and signage providing specific instructions.

5. DRESS CODE:

ALWAYS adhering to the dress code of the Club and follow instructions relating to Golf Shoes in clubhouses.

6. INTEGRITY & SPORTMANSHIP:

Acting with honesty, and not knowingly cheat, and recognising good performance and effort by other players.

7. INCLUSIVITY:

Promoting an environment where everyone has an equal opportunity to play and enjoy their golf, regardless of their background etc, and remembering that NOT all disabilities are visible.

8. HEALTH & SAFETY:

ALWAYS look out for each other, be aware of spectators and ensure their well-being by waiting to take your shot and to shout FORE whenever it is required.

Breach of Code of Conduct – Consequences and Sanctions

Any player found to be in breach of our Code of Conduct will be subject to the following disciplinary process.

When any form of behaviour or action that is contrary to the above is either witnessed or reported to the JT Scotland Team the following process will be put in place.

  1. An open and honest conversation will take place between a JT Team member, the player and the player’s parent/guardian.  This will constitute a verbal warning and should be an end to the matter.
  2. A further breach of the code of conduct (in the same event or at a future event) will result in a written warning (like a “yellow card”) which will remain on a players file for 2 more events, where the player will be required to demonstrate a change in their behaviour/actions to adhere to our Code of Conduct.  A player with a “yellow card” on file will be balloted out of an over-subscribed event.
  3. If the situation arises where there is either a repeat of the above, or an incident which would constitute a serious breach of our Code of Conduct (like a “red card”) – the player will be automatically disqualified from the event, asked to leave immediately, and a penalty score of 1 shot will be added to their HC Index for each of the rounds not completed.  Furthermore, a player receiving this sanction will not be eligible to enter any more events in that season.

An Online Form will be made available prior to the start of our 1st event to enable you to agree your understanding of this Code of Conduct and to provide some additional "contact details" that we require for the operation of the Junior Tour.
